The Francis Howell Communications Department has been recognized by the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA) for its efforts to inform and engage the community. Each year, MOSPRA provides the opportunity for members to have their work evaluated by public relations professionals and measured against industry standards.

In the 2019 MOSPRA Communications Awards Program, FHSD was recognized with the following awards:

  • Social Media, Facebook - Award of Merit (First Place)
  • Video, “Software Center” – Award of Merit
  • Writing, “Firefighters Deliver Coats to FHSD Students in Need” – Award of Merit
  • Writing, “Henderson Hosts Book Tasting” – Award of Commendation
  • Writing “Thank You, Miss Howard, for Saving My Life” – Award of Commendation
  • Writing, “Signing Santa” – Award of Commendation

“We know how important it is for our District and our schools to connect with our community,” said Chief Communications and Community Relations Officer Matt Deichmann. “The FHSD Communication Department works tirelessly year-round to keep District stakeholders informed about the great things happening in our schools every day, and we are honored to be recognized for that work.”

Each submission in the program was judged by two public relations professionals both inside and outside of the public education arena. One of the category judges noted, “They did a great job at bringing in some new and different ideas to implement within their social media.”

MOSPRA President Kelly Wachel said: “The MOSPRA Communications Awards Program not only recognizes exemplary school public relations programs but also provides valuable feedback from public relations professionals to help our members continue to improve their work. Congratulations to this year's honorees on this well-deserved recognition.”

MOSPRA is the Missouri Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association and is comprised of school-communication practitioners from both public and private school districts throughout the state. The organization’s Communication Awards Program recognizes its members for their creative and effective work in school public relations.
