FHSD to Host Appliance and Electronics Recycling Event April 6

Appliance and Electronics Recycling

The Francis Howell School District (FHSD), in partnership with the Midwest Recycling Center, will be hosting a free community-wide appliance and electronics recycling event on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the FHSD Burbes Service Center located at 4606 Central School Road in St. Charles.

FHSD and St. Charles County residents are encouraged to bring their broken or old electronics and appliances for disposal. Acceptable items include:
 

Air Conditioners
Answering Machines
Batteries (car, rechargeable)

Camera (video, 35mm, digital)

Cell Phones
Computers Hard Drives (all hard drives are shredded or wiped with DOD approved software)
Computer Monitors (limit 2 per vehicle)
Copiers
Curling Irons
Dehumidifiers
Dishwasher
Dryers
DVD Players
Fans
Fax Machines
Furnaces
Gaming Systems
Hair Dryers
Hard Drives
Humidifiers

 

Keyboards
Kitchen Appliances
Laptop Computers
Microwaves
Pagers
Power Tools
Printers
Radios
Refrigerators
Satellite Receivers
Scanners
Speakers
Stereo
Surge Protectors
Telephones
Televisions (limit 2 per vehicle)

Typewriters
Vacuum Cleaners

Wash Machines

Some items that cannot be accepted include smoke detectors, glass lamps, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and alkaline batteries.

This free event is open to the Francis Howell community, St. Charles residents and non-residents, all schools, churches and businesses. Midwest Recycling is registered with the EPA and is Level 4 Certified with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Midwest Recycling has a zero landfill policy.
