In October, Independence Elementary was named to Saint Louis University’s Student Growth Top 20 list, coming in at #8 in the state for student learning growth in English Language Arts. The list highlights elementary and middle schools that have been successful in demonstrating “outrageously high growth” in student learning (as opposed to other rankings which tend to focus solely on proficiency).

Independence was also recognized for their character education programming, which earned a national Promising Practice award from character.org – a Washington, D.C. based nonprofit organization that provides resources for educators to build nurturing and supportive school cultures.
