FHC students to host school board candidate forum

Students with the publications team at Francis Howell Central (FHC) High School are organizing, hosting, and moderating a Board Candidate Forum. The forum is an opportunity to hear from all six candidates for the FHSD Board of Education.

The forum is set to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, March 29, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the FHC Auditorium.

Candidate filing for the April 5, 2022 election to the Francis Howell School District Board of Education was open from Dec. 7 – Dec. 28, 2021. The terms of current Board members Mike Hoehn and Michelle Walker will expire in April 2022.

Board candidates are listed below in the order they will appear on the ballot. All information has been provided by the candidate. Bios and photos are unedited and appear here exactly as submitted.

Christine Hyman
Adam Bertrand
Randy Cook, Jr.
Justin McCoy
Rick Rice
Mike Hoehn

The Forum is entirely student-led; District officials have had zero input into the format of the evening or the questions asked of candidates.

The Forum will consist of a two-minute opening statement from each candidate, followed by 3-6 questions predetermined by FHC Publications. Candidates will have one-and-a-half minutes to answer each question. The forum will run until 8 p.m. at which time, the student moderators will open the forum to questions by those in attendance and any submitted by our community in advance by social media. The open question period will last no longer than 30 minutes.

FHC student journalists reached out to all six Board candidates with some questions ahead of the Forum. Read those responses on the FHCtoday website.

For those unable to attend in person, the Forum will be recorded and uploaded to FHCtoday.com later in the week.
