Dr. Kim Hawk named as new Chief Financial Officer

The Francis Howell School District Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Kim Hawk as the District’s new Chief Financial Officer effective July 1, 2022. Hawk will replace long-time Chief Operating Officer Kevin Supple, who is retiring after 17 years of service to the District.

Dr. Hawk currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Northwest School District in House Springs, Mo. Prior to that, she was the Superintendent of Plato R-V School District. She has worked in public education since 1992, first as an elementary teacher before moving into administrator roles. Hawk served as elementary principal for the Warrensburg School District from 1999 through 2003 and then spent the next 13 years with the Waynesville R-VI School District, holding both principal roles and central office positions during her tenure. She holds a doctorate in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University and bachelor’s, master’s and specialist degrees from Missouri State University.

“Francis Howell’s reputation of excellence and focus on putting students at the center of decisions are well known throughout Missouri,” said Hawk. The staff dedication and community commitment are evident in the great work taking place at Francis Howell. I look forward to working with this amazing team to empower our students and prepare them for a bright future!”

As CFO, Hawk will serve as part of the Executive Cabinet leadership team and provide strategic vision and direction for the District. She will be responsible for non-instructional aspects of District operations, including development and management of the District’s $317 million budget and supervision of payroll, benefits and risk management functions for the District’s 2,200 employees. She will also oversee the facilities, operations and technology departments and play a critical role in managing the $244 million Prop S bond issue, overseeing new construction and renovation projects across the District.

“I look forward to working with the Board of Education and administration to improve fiscal responsibility and accountability, ensuring the District remains good stewards of the resources entrusted to us,” said Hawk.

Hawk was selected as CFO following a transparent and inclusive multi-step hiring process through which more than 75 patrons, staff and community members participated in some capacity – serving on an interview committee or providing input on specific traits and characteristics desired in our new CFO.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Hawk joining our team at this critical juncture,” said Dr. Kenneth Roumpos, interim superintendent for the 2022-23 school year. “Throughout the interview process, Dr. Hawk has demonstrated her commitment to transparency and collaboration. She is a strategic thinker who believes in building and nurturing relationships with stakeholders. I trust that she will be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars and will bring innovative approaches to school finance.”

Hawk will begin her duties on July 1, 2022, overlapping for two weeks with outgoing COO Supple who retires on July 15.
