 | Parent Donates 55 Handmade Masks to EC-Central Posted on 09/25/2020 Masks have been an integral part of the Francis Howell School District’s plan to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. After the virus affected her family, one FHSD parent set out to make sure that her son’s classmates and all the teachers in the building had their necessary daily accessory.

 | Maintenance and Custodian Appreciation Week Posted on 09/25/2020 It’s no small task to keep our schools clean and running efficiently. The Francis Howell School District’s custodial staff and maintenance team play a large role behind the scenes to ensure that students and staff are in a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. Grounds workers, maintenance, HVAC technicians, and custodians all keep the District’s facilities looking beautiful and in prime working order. In an effort to help appreciate these individuals, FHSD celebrates Maintenance and Custodian Appreciation Week from Sept. 28 through Oct. 2.

 | Francis Howell High School Honored as a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School Posted on 09/24/2020 |
 | AP Scholars 2020 Posted on 09/24/2020 FHSD is proud to announce that 300 students have been named Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars for 2019-20. The AP program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through AP courses and exams with the prestigious AP Scholar Awards.

 | Prop S Turns into Teachable Moment About the Trades Posted on 09/23/2020 With the 2020-21 school year well underway, the daily operations of the Francis Howell School District also continue on. This includes progress on districtwide improvements that are possible through the approval of Proposition S. Approved by voters in June 2020, Prop S provided $244 million dollars of bond money to address pressing facilities needs at all Francis Howell schools. All Prop S projects are detailed in the Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan and will be completed over the course of the next six years.

 | FHSD Board Sets Tax Rate Posted on 09/23/2020 The FHSD Board of Education approved the 2020-21 tax rate of $4.6481 by a 7-0 vote at the September Board meeting. The 2020-21 tax rate remains relatively unchanged compared to the 2019-20 tax rate. FHSD’s tax rate is now the lowest in St. Charles County. While all other St. Charles County school districts have recently approved increases in either their operating or debt service levy, or both, the District hasn’t had a tax increase since 2004.

 | FHSD to Host Free Shred-it Day for District Residents Posted on 09/21/2020 The Francis Howell School District is offering a community "Shred-it Day." FHSD residents are invited to bring personal and confidential paper documents (such as old tax documents, bank records, and credit card statements) to be securely shredded and recycled. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM* at the Burbes Service Center, located at 4606 Central School Road in St. Charles.

 | Six Years Strong: FHC Junior Raises Funds for Friends of Children Posted on 09/18/2020 Six years strong. Those words hold great meaning and pride for FHC junior Emma Sieveking. They represent six years since she was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenille Diabetes and six years of not letting the disease stop her from embracing life. To honor her determined battle with diabetes, Emily organized a “24 miles in 24 hours” challenge and raised money for the FHSD Friends of Children fund.

 | FHSD Named 2020 Top Workplace Posted on 09/14/2020 The Francis Howell School District has been named to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Workplaces list for the seventh time in the past eight years. The District was tenth among the top 15 large employers (employers with 500 or more employees) in the St. Louis area.

 | Warren Student Places Second in National Braille Reading Competition Posted on 09/08/2020 Like many of her classmates at Warren Elementary, Salome Cummins attends her classes, finishes her homework, and plays with her friends. She will talk your ear off if given the chance, has a bubbly personality, loves meeting new people, is incredibly smart, and has a contagious smile. During the summer months, Salome competed in a reading competition and finished second in her age group. Salome’s reading materials were a little different than what you might find in her school’s Learning Commons though, as her books are printed in Braille. Salome is legally blind.

 | Mask Guidelines Update Posted on 09/08/2020 At FHSD, we are regularly monitoring the COVID situation and have made a commitment to update our guidelines and processes as new information comes forward. Earlier this week, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) updated their recommendations related to students wearing masks or face coverings.

 | FHHS eSports Places Fourth in 2020 Spring Open Posted on 09/08/2020 Long gone are the days where parents tell their children to stop playing video games and start participating in school extracurriculars. Video games are now a Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) sponsored activity. Francis Howell High School, following in the footsteps of Francis Howell Central High School, started their own eSports group – and it’s thriving.
