The Francis Howell School District’s committees work year-round to support student learning. FHSD is looking for community members, parents, and staff to serve on our committees for the 2017-18 school year. The deadline to apply is May 31, 2017. Academic Strategic Planning Committee
This is a Board of Education strategic planning committee comprised of FHSD stakeholders including a Board of Education member, teachers, site and District administrators, parents, students, and community members. This committee provides input to guide decision-making in the areas of student learning such as curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development and regularly reviews data related to student learning progress. As new developments occur in various educational settings during the school year, this group is informed and updated on such changes.
Community Relations Strategic Planning Committee
The District Community Relations Committee (CRC) is a representative group of District personnel, parents, students and community members that will have a focus on community outreach projects that seek to involve stakeholders in the business of the District.
Curriculum Advisory Council
The Curriculum Advisory Council (CAC) is a representative group of District personnel, parents, and community members that advises the Board of Education, through the Academic Strategic Planning Committee, in matters concerning curriculum development and instructional planning. The CAC will serve as a sounding board for certified personnel in curriculum matters.
District Assessment Committee
The District Assessment Committee will review the District assessment plan, seek input on the current direction of assessment in the District, and communicate this direction with appropriate stakeholders. Committee members will be involved in updating the district Assessment Plan.
District Technology Committee
The District Technology Committee (DTC) is a representative group of District personnel, parents, students and community members that will advise the Board of Education, through the Finance and Operations Strategic Committee, on matters concerning technology for the District. The primary responsibilities of this committee will be to review and revise the District’s technology plan, to plan and coordinate instructional technology including hardware and software, and technology policy development.
The Facilities Committee was created to review existing physical plant conditions, safety and security needs, new facility construction and facility renovation needs, technology infrastructure, and major system maintenance requirements. The committee develops recommendations for capital improvements that help ensure effective utilization of physical assets. Specific task-oriented subcommittees may be appointed by the Facilitator from time to time as need dictates and may include other District personnel.
Finance/Operations Strategic Planning Committee
The Finance and Operations Committee was established in an effort to streamline committee assignments, better organize the Board’s work and enable the public to participate more fully in the decision-making process. The Committee will review fiscal issues, such as budget and audit, as well as all matters relating to finance and general District operations. The Committee acts in a consultative capacity to the Board of Education. Specific task-oriented subcommittees may be appointed by the Facilitator from time to time as need dictates and may include other District personnel.
Human Resources Strategic Planning Committee
The purpose of the Human Resources Strategic Committee (HRSC) is to provide ongoing communication, and allow an avenue for input, regarding the critical human resources functions of recruiting, training, and retaining highly qualified staff.
Special Education Parent Advisory Council
The Special Education Parent Advisory Council is a committee of individuals who are interested in improving special education services in Francis Howell School District. The purpose is to improve special education services through the collaboration between District personnel and parents. The focus of the committee is family involvement and input on special education issues.
