National School Counseling Week

Francis Howell school counselors assist students throughout the year as they plan out their class schedules, discover their gifts and talents, and reflect on their interests and career options. They provide a listening ear for students to share the tough times and the good times and equip them with skills to tackle academic goals and social situations. As part of National School Counseling Week, Feb. 3-7, 2020, FHSD celebrates these valuable leaders in our community.

Every student needs a good notebook. It provides the perfect space to organize your life, share your hopes and dreams, and journal as you navigate life. In FHSD, our District counselors provide a similar space for students as they strive for success each day at school.

Jaclyn Mastroianni, the counselor at Central Elementary, shared how she enjoys being there for her community every day. “I think the most rewarding thing about being a counselor is seeing a child grow and learn from whatever is going on and process it better after they work with me.”

While our school counselors work behind the scenes, they play an important role in students’ education. Please take a moment during National Counseling Week to express your thanks to our school counselors for all that they do for our students and District community.
