Happy Interpreter and Paraprofessional Appreciation Day

FHSD celebrates our paraprofessionals and interpreters who provide support to students and staff on a daily basis. Paraprofessionals and interpreters are an integral part of the school day and offer help to staff members of all kinds. To say thank you to these dedicated individuals, FHSD celebrates Paraprofessional and Interpreter Appreciation Day on Wednesday, April 1.

“Our paraprofessionals and interpreters work hard to support our students and help ensure they learn at high levels,” said Director of Alternative Learning Dr. Will Vanderpool. “These individuals exhibit patience, dedication, and caring daily. As the needs of our students have changed the past few years, our paras and interpreters have taken on the challenge of learning new techniques and exhibit a growth mindset. I am proud of everything they do and proud they are part of our community.”

Paraprofessionals and interpreters fill many roles throughout the District, including:

  • Providing one-on-one tutoring services for those who qualify
  • Assisting teachers with classroom management
  • Providing assistance in computer labs, learning commons, or media center
  • Holding/completing parent involvement activities
  • Implementing behavior management plans
  • Modifying materials to assist students
  • Providing translation services for students
  • Providing instructional services under the supervision of a teacher

A special thank you to all of the interpreters and paraprofessionals in the District who go above and beyond every day to make FHSD a special place. Please take a moment to thank a paraprofessional or interpreter for the work they have done for our students, teachers, schools, and community.
