Kelsey Bell, senior at Francis Howell North (FHN) High School, has been named the Missouri Student Journalist of the Year. Kelsey will be honored at the Scholastic Journalism Day awards ceremony at University of Missouri on April 4.
Jesse McGinnis, a junior at Francis Howell Union (FHU) High School, was recognized as the honorary student representative at the February 16 Board of Education meeting. At the beginning of the meeting Stephanie was presented with the Superintendent’s Certificate from Dr. Pam Sloan.

Fairmount Elementary held its first annual Abilities Awareness Week February 6 – 10. During the week, students and staff had the opportunity learn, understand and accept individuals with disabilities through fun interactive activities.
Textbooks, e-Readers and now iPads! Barnwell Middle School recently opened a newly furnished Apple iPad Lab January 30, 2012 for all grade levels. Teachers began facilitating student use in the second quarter and look to enhance learning, student engagement and instructional practices.
The Francis Howell High School (FHHS) Student Council presented a check for $12,264 to Krista Whalen, a representative for the ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the Winter Pep Assembly on February 8.
The Francis Howell North (FHN) High School Jazz Ensemble impressed judges at the First Annual University of Missouri (MU) Jazz Festival on Saturday, February 4. The ensemble received the distinction of Unanimous Division I ratings in performance and sight-reading from all four guest judges.
Alexandria Metzer, senior at Francis Howell High School recently competed in the U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) Midwestern Sectionals for Synchronized Skating in Plymouth, Michigan with the St. Louis Synergy Novice Skating Team. Metzer and her teammates skated to a Pewter Medal finish qualifying the team to compete at nationals. This is the first time in Missouri’s history that a synchronized skating team received a gold medal at Sectionals.
