Public education continually strives for excellence in educating our youth. In the effort to better prepare our students for college and career, Missouri has joined more than 40 other states in adopting new standards in Math and English Language Arts. These Common Core State Standards were developed in collaboration with teachers, school administrators and experts from across the country and will begin to be implemented during the 2012-2013 school year.
The standards clearly define the knowledge and skills students should have within their K-12 education careers so that they will graduate high school able to succeed in academic college courses and in workforce training programs. They are clearly stated, evidence-based, and aligned with college and work expectations.
