Andrew Tollefson, a junior at FHN, has been awarded the 2017 Youth Leadership Award. Organized by the Governor’s Council on Disability, the Youth Leadership Award recognizes young adults with disabilities who demonstrate their leadership abilities by going above and beyond in their community. No Matter What – Golden Girls Win Back-to-Back State Titles

After a comeback season, the FHHS Golden Girls were announced as the Overall Champions at the 2018 Missouri Dance Team Association State Competition. The team grew together to develop an outstanding work ethic to defend their title. Every month at the Francis Howell School District Board of Education meeting, the Board invites one FHSD’s finest students to represent his or her peers on the dais. March marks the start of the season of growth and life, and the BOE student rep for March embodies both. There are so many high achieving students in the Francis Howell School District that sometimes it’s a challenge for students to stand out. Then to stand out from the thousands of great students in the metropolitan area is an even more fantastic feat. As spring comes back around, the colors of our world return. It reminds us of the beauty that surrounds us every day, sometimes forgotten in the cold doldrums of winter. And it may remind us of the beautiful art being created by students in our schools. March is Youth Art Month, and FHSD students and teachers are brightening the canvas of our lives. Local Law Enforcement will Respond to Fire Alarms

The local law enforcement agencies that serve and protect the Francis Howell School District (Cottleville, St. Charles City, St. Charles County, and St. Peters) will now be responding to all fire alarms that occur at FHSD schools. This “priority response” means that in addition to the fire department, police officers will also arrive at our schools with lights and sirens activated when the fire alarm has been sounded.  Read more about Local Law Enforcement will Respond to Fire Alarms

The Francis Howell School District has selected Dr. Nathan Hoven as the District’s new Chief Academic Officer, effective July 1, 2018. The Board of Education approved the selection at the March 15, 2018, Board meeting. The Francis Howell School District is proud to announce that Francis Howell High School, Francis Howell Central High School, and Francis Howell North High School have all been named Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished Schools. Harvest Ridge Elementary hosted their first “Culture Night” since first since 2010. Families were invited to share displays of their different cultures with the entire school body. Children who eat breakfast at school start the day ready to learn. However, only half of the children who eat lunch at school also eat school breakfast, according to the Food Research and Action Council. The Francis Howell School District is proud to announce that Shelly Parks, English Language Arts teacher at Francis Howell North High School (FHN), has been selected as the 2018 FHSD Teacher of the Year. We have pep rallies for sports, why not for reading? That’s exactly what’s happening across the country on Read Across America Day, March 2. The National Education Association (NEA) sponsors the annual Read Across America event to get children excited about reading. The celebration is held on the birthday of beloved children’s author, Dr. Seuss. Schools in FHSD mark the occasion by celebrating in a variety of ways.  Read more about Read Across America
