FHSD Students Raise Record Amount for American Heart Association

Jumping rope, playing dodge ball, and shooting hoops may seem like playtime to some, but for students in FHSD, it’s a matter of heart. During the 2016-17 school year, FHSD elementary and middle schools collected a record total $109,011.48 for the American Heart Association (AHA) through Jump Rope for Heart, Hoops for Heart, and Dodge for Heart. It’s a common misconception that teachers only work nine months out of the year. The reality is that effective teachers never stops learning. Francis Howell School District teachers live by this motto, always finding new ways to reach all learners and their individual learning styles, and keeping up with the newest, most efficient teaching methods. Francis Howell School District is always looking for ways to save taxpayer dollars and still improve convenience for parents and students. Both goals are achieved with the Peachjar flyer distribution system. FHSD delivers school information and approved flyers from community organizations electronically through Peachjar. The American Legion’s Missouri Boys State is a prestigious program that brings together the best and brightest high school juniors in the state every year, designed to foster individual success and leadership. Participants not only learn how to make a difference in their world, they actually practice it. The Francis Howell School District is proud to announce that 242 students, have been named Advanced Placement Scholars for 2016-17. The Health Occupations Students of America is an international student organization that promotes career opportunities in the health care industry, and promotes the delivery of quality health care to all. Just like educators in the Francis Howell School District, HOSA wants the next generation of health industry professionals to be as prepared as possible, and they hold competitions to help develop the skills necessary to treat patients in the 21st century. Niche Ranks FHSD as One of the Top School Districts in Missouri

Niche has just released its 2018 list of best Schools in America, and has ranked the Francis Howell School District No. 16 in Missouri. On Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, a solar eclipse will be visible on a path across the United States for the first time since 1918. FHSD will be in the path of totality for the solar eclipse. The District has been busy planning to make this once in a lifetime event a unique learning experience for our students. Students, staff, parents, and the larger FHSD community will all have the opportunity to provide feedback and be a valuable part of the process.
